A pioneering color and lighting concept at the Eichert Clinic in Göppingen transforms the maternity ward into a soothing and welcoming space for expectant mothers.
Hospital environments often feel clinical, but the Eichert Clinic sought to change this by integrating soft colors and ambient lighting into the maternity ward’s design. The newly designed birthing rooms, neonatal units, and reception areas now feature warm and relaxing tones, reducing anxiety and enhancing overall well-being.
One of the standout features is the “starry sky” ceiling, which creates a calming effect during labor. This unique lighting installation simulates a tranquil night sky, offering a sense of peace and security for expectant mothers.
By incorporating human-centered design principles, this project showcases how art and architecture can significantly impact healthcare environments. The thoughtful use of color psychology and adaptive lighting ensures a comfortable and reassuring experience for both medical staff and patients.
“Friendly colors – soft lighting: In such an atmosphere, expectant mothers feel more relaxed during examinations.” – NWZ Göppingen
